Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Sydney
Aug 31st
One of the true glamour events on the fashion circuit has to be the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival in Sydney. Tony Assness was one of the many talented and creative people involved this year and chose to use our wonderful Nemo Chair as part of his staging set up for his client. Draped in fabric the Nemo was almost ethereal in its presence.
Combining minimalist white tables and our equally stunning Panton Chairs, the set was not only purposeful, but beautiful.

Valiant Hire was proud to be the supplier for the furniture used in the backstage area of the lady Gaga Live at the Monster Hall Concert in July this year.
As promised in our blog a month ago, we have now been able to release the images from the Lady Gaga concert at the Sydney Town Hall.
Sydney event company Azbthecreative utilised some unique and stylish furniture from Valiant Hire, combining it with their own selection of accessories to create a look as eclectic as the performer herself.
The Hydro Majestic

The Hydro Majestic – Medlow Bath NSW Australia
If you have grown up in Sydney and the surrounds or even just visited the area, there is a good chance you took the time to visit the Blue Mountains and see the stunning Hydro Majestic at Medlow Bath just west of Katoomba.
Driving past last weekend and seeing it behind fences and ready for renovation brought back so many memories that I just had to dig further and find out more about its future and of course it’s amazing past.
I was lucky enough to speak with Peter Reeve who is looking after the Interior & Creative Design on the renovation project about the most challenging obstacles when dealing with a project with such an important history.
“Embarking on the Hydro Majestic journey over 2 ½ years ago was not a decision to be taken lightly. The Hydro for me is like a mirror reflecting Australia growing up from the end of the 19th Century into Federation, through 2 world wars, the depression, and the coming of modern times. Everyone has memories of the Hydro – often many more myth than reality – but they are fond and fabulous all the same.
Nemo Chair…
Jul 30th

At the stunningly beautiful Longhouse Reserve in East Hampton at their annual summer benefit, one of the stars of the show was the collection of white Nemo chairs placed in a field.
The longhouse reserve on 16 acres was founded by the textile designer Jack Lenor Larson in 1991, and is an amazing place. This year’s benefit honoured the artist Dale Chihuly.
Definitely worth a visit, but the reserve is only open a precious few days and times a year!
Biennale of Sydney 2012 : all our relations

Biennale of Sydney 2012 : all our relations
We had the pleasure of attending an event this week to listen to the vision and direction of the 2012 Biennale by Artistic Directors Catherine de Zegher and Gerald McMaster. In addition we heard from some of the many talented artists from across the world who will be descending on Sydney in June 2012.
They will transform some incredible art spaces across our city into amazing installations that will be accessible by everyone and encourage interaction with modern art.
The evening was held in the stunning Seidler Penthouse in Milson’s Point overlooking Luna Park and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
As radiant as the venue was Penelope Seidler who graciously allowed the use of the property for this important meeting. Penelope has been involved in the Biennale for many years and has attended every Biennale that has been held in Sydney from its beginnings in 1973. This year Sydney is fortunate to have Penelope join the board of the Biennale. Her wealth of experience will benefit this massive project.
Valiant Hire will continue to be involved as a supporter for the events as well as helping out with the office furniture for the Biennale office for the next 2 years. We have been involved in the Biennale for many years and continue to support the arts across Australia.
Check out the amazing brochure for the Biennale on their website and you have to have a read about the Seidler apartment as well.
There is also an interview with Penelope Seidler on specifier.com.au that provides some insights to a truly wonderful person.
Don’t become the biggest hurdle in your sales process!
Jul 5th
The biggest hurdle to overcome when you are having a property styled for sale can be you !
Unless you do it for a living, styling a property (or having it professionally styled) is something that many people may have only just come across for the first time. It is confronting!
A stranger (albeit polite and friendly) comes into your home and tells you what to do with your things. Under normal circumstances this would be an outrage; however these are not normal circumstances.
The sale of our home is often the single biggest financial decision we make. As such, it is vitally important that we make the most of that sale to take those precious $$$$ into our next venture.
So…. As jarring as it may be LISTEN to your stylist ! As clichéd as it has become in the last few years: YOU NEED TO DECLUTTER AND DEPERSONALISE your property.
The potential buyer doesn’t want to buy into the photos of your holiday in Hawaii or see you Skiing in New Zealand – they want to see themselves in THEIR new home.
Make it easy for them to imagine living there, and half the battle is over.
Forget what you like in your home, the objective is to sell it and move on with your life. The best advice will come from a professional who does this for a living. Stylists are in touch with Real Estate Agents daily, they know what your target market wants to see and how to achieve it.
Take it from the experts, once you decide to sell, pack up your clutter and get excited about your new life.
Let the stylists work their magic – make your property stand out from the crowd and sell quicker – and for more $$$$……….

It seemed fitting that we mention part of our new range on an important day in American History as the designer is based in California. (Ok, for those of you in America , it will actually occur tomorrow if you are reading this as we post it, however your Australian friends are thinking of you today as well !)
We have recently added the Frank Gehry Colour Cubes to our Event Hire Furniture range and it occurred to us that perhaps some people aren’t aware who Frank Gehry actually is.
The wiki link below will give you the complete picture however a couple of iconic structures (also pictured below) will help to give you an idea of his designs.
Have a look at the proposed building for Sydney University (below left) – it is amazing, and you may recognise the Guggenheim in Spain as well.
So although you can’t hire the buildings from us, you can have some great fun with the bright colour cubes at your next event (and yes they even come in white if the colours are just too “out there” for you !) Check out more at www.valiant.com.au
