Christmas Party Ideas: Coastal

Who needs snow and subzero weather when you have sand, sea and summer sun? December in Australia has an amazing vibe. Where else do you feel the excitement of Christmas AND summer together?

It’s a perfect time for organising open air or outdoor events and outdoor parties. If you’re planning your End of Year party or Christmas Shindig by the coast or at a venue with beautiful water views, this may be the event theme for you!

Coastal Christmas Theme Mood Board

Event Styling Moodboard: Coastal Christmas

This was inspired by a beautiful clear day by the beach with friends, family, or peers and a glass of cold bubbly in hand. The mood is fun and relaxed with everyone looking forward to having a great time.

To bring this look together, start with a fresh colour palette of breezy blues, warm beige and browns, and white or very light grey. For furniture pieces, use wicker textures, natural timbers, and light fabrics. Accessorise with tropical greenery (i.e. palms), and items that enhance the theme such as faux coral and shells. Mix in some shimmer with a few metallic elements and maybe even fairy lights for evening socials.

To weave in the holiday feel, play around with some Christmas-y decor such as pretty baubles and silver tinsel strands peppered around your event space. If you're keen, you can choose to set-up a Christmas tree. Be consistent with the look when decorating the tree. Keep it fresh and uncluttered and decorate with fun beach items.

Remember to keep it fresh and light.

Here are some pieces that will go beautifully with this look:

Select comfortable pieces that set the atmosphere for easily lounging. To style, you can use cushions in white and light powdery blue. For coffee or side tables, we like doing minimalist arrangements using faux corals, shells, candles in shiny gold and silver metallic containers, dainty chrome or silver lanterns, and toned down florals.

These are our favourite coastal dining furniture pieces. They look amazing whether heavily or minimally dressed. For styling, we like using some of the pieces mentioned earlier - faux corals, shells, candles in shiny gold and silver metallic containers and dainty chrome or silver lanterns. In place of floral arrangements, you can use light green succulents. When placed next to some metallic accessories, succulents help create a fresh beachy Christmas vibe. This is also a great opportunity to incorporate the use of Christmas baubles or little metallic stars as table top decor.

Bar and Cocktails

Here's a tip, while you can only do so much with your bar and tapas tables, you can dress the dry bar to add a layer of styling to the whole arrangement. You can customise the panels of our panel bars with decals or choice fabric prints!
