humble beginnings
1903
In 1903 founder Frank Griff, an immigrant 19 years of age, sought an opportunity as a merchant in Broken Hill. He established ‘Frank Griff – General Furnisher & Importer’. Growth and opportunity lead Frank to Sydney, where he established an eight-floor furniture business on Pitt Street.
valiant NAMED
1961
The Valiant story began when Frank Griff renamed the business Valiant Commercial Furniture & moved to Riley Street, Surry Hills. We specialised in selling office furniture and partitions
Pioneering Furniture Hire
1982 - 1983
Became the first Australian company to pioneer as an office furniture hire business. With our first client being Chase Manhattan Bank - AMP Banking Consortium. A year later Valiant scaled to 60 employees and moved to a larger building.
Pioneering Furniture Hire
1985 - 1987
Opened a new office, showroom, and warehouse in Tullamarine, VIC, supporting Macquarie Group's expansion with thousands of desks and chairs. Two years later, began first corporate sponsorship of the arts with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and The Australian Opera.
Company Acquisition
1992 - 1995
Acquired All Business Furniture in Melbourne, followed by Morgan's Expo two years later.
Event Services Expansion
1996
Expanded services to support client events in Sydney and Melbourne, moving beyond just office furniture.
Australian Open Contract
1998 - 1999
Between 1998 and 1999, we moved the Melbourne office to Dudley Street, expanded by acquiring two buildings on Spencer Street, and secured a long-term contract to provide furniture for the Australian Open.
Major Contracts Won
2000
Awarded the Australian Electoral Commission contract to supply furniture to the Federal Election. Supplied furniture to various corporate clients at the Sydney Olympic Games
Brisbane Qld Launch
2001
Opened our doors to a Brisbane office, showroom, and warehouse in Fortitude Valley. Signed a 4-year sponsorship deal with Leyton Hewitt
Residential Expansion
2002
Our services expanded to support clients in residential interiors across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane
National Exam Furniture Supply
2004-2005
In 2004, we purchased a fit-for-purpose facility on Turbot Drive in Coorparoo, Brisbane. The following year, we provided over 10,000 exam tables and chairs for tertiary education exams in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
MotoGP Partnership
2007
Awarded the Australian Moto Grand Prix contract for event furniture hire and have continued our partnership.
MotoGP Partnership
2008
Began providing furniture for the television show Selling Houses Australia, with 2022 being our 14th season.
Relocation + Expansion
2009 - 2010
In 2009, we moved our furniture storage from Spencer Street, West Melbourne, to a fit-for-purpose 3000m² facility in West Footscray. The following year, we relocated our operations from Bourke Street, Waterloo, to Burrows Road, Alexandria, signing a 4,200m² lease.
G20 Summit Furniture
2014
Provided furniture pieces for the 2014 G20 Summit held in Brisbane.
Federal Elections Milestone
2015 - 2016
Outgrew our Brisbane office in Coorparoo and moved to a purpose-built 6000m² facility in Pinkenba. The following year, we supplied 16,146 furniture pieces for the 2016 federal elections across QLD, NSW, ACT, and VIC, covering 387 locations in total, and will continue our contract in the 2022 federal election.
Major Partnerships
2017
Awarded NDIA contract. Frasers Property partnership agreement in Queensland. Began procuring furniture pieces in-house.
2,900 Major Events
2018
Invested millions in event furniture, delivered to 2,900 major events on the Eastern Seaboard. Awarded Victoria Racing Carnival contract. Attended Milan furniture fair and multiple shows in Singapore, China, and SE Asia.
Senior Living Contract
2019
Awarded the AVEO contact servicing residential interiors for seniors living facilities nationally. Outgrew our facility in West Footscray and signed the lease on a further 3000m² facility in West Footscray. Sold our two Spencer Street buildings and moved our office into Salmon Street, Port Melbourne.
Paperless Innovation
2020
Became the first hire company to go paperless, with our entire inventory system being cloud-based. Secured a 3 year contract with Griffith University.
Styling Olympics Announcement
2021
Awarded furniture and styling for the Brisbane Olympic Games 2032 activation announcement
3 Major Milestones
2022
Achieved three major milestones: completing our largest-ever Federal Election install of 27,000 pieces, becoming Australia’s first 100% carbon-neutral furniture hire and styling company, and launching the country's first live inventory online furniture hire shop.
Sustainability + Growth
2023
Renewed 100% Carbon Neutrality, applied for B Corp Certification, launched ReforaStone tables from 100% recycled milk cartons, introduced 15 new ranges with 3,600+ recycled components, planted 7,800+ trees, supplied furniture for FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, won two HIA QLD Interior Decorate Awards, extended partnerships with Brisbane International and Griffith University, and supplied 27,625 items for a Federal Government project.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What locations does Valiant service?
Valiant operates warehouses in NSW/ACT, VIC, and QLD, serving the east coast of Australia. Our services extend to surrounding areas with additional delivery fees.
What is your standard delivery and collection hours?
Our standard hours are Monday to Saturday 6am - 6pm. All deliveries and collections outside these hours will incur additional fees.
Can I collect my items from my local Valiant's warehouse?
Valiant offers dry hire on certain items within our range. All dry hire items need to be collected and returned in a covered vehicle with suitable packaging to ensure items aren’t damaged. Ropes and blankets are recommended by our operations teams. A dry hire fee applies to allow our team to prepare the goods for hire and any damages.
Do you offer the same range across all three states?
Valiant offers various ranges across all three states. Our range is housed in our warehouses located in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Stock is subject to availability within a particular state's warehouse.

What does Valiant offer on short notice?
All of our event furniture is available for as little as 1 day hire and can be hired direct from our online hire shop. Our residential and commercial workplace range is available for long-term rental only and requires at least two weeks notice.
Does your labor fee include setup?
Valiant freight fees include delivery, set up, cleaning, and collection of hired items.
Can i buy furniture from Valiant?
Valiant coordinates own outright packages for Residential and Commercial projects. Choose between; own outright or Lease-to-Own packages. We can help to populate a full FF&E schedule and project manage your installation from one of our warehouses.
