At Valiant, we are passionate about supporting events that align with our values of sustainability and thoughtful design. This year, we were honoured to be the official furniture partner for the Small Giants Academy Wisdom & Action Forum 2024, held at the stunning Abbotsford Convent, a venue renowned for its peaceful, reflective setting—perfect for an event centered on deep connection and meaningful dialogue.
The Brief: Creating Harmony in Design
When Small Giants approached us, their vision was clear: an event space that reflected the core themes of the forum — purposeful connection and sustainability. The goal was to integrate furniture that elevated the experience, without overshadowing the serene ambiance of the venue.
We collaborated closely with the Small Giants team to ensure that every element of the furniture complemented the forum’s purpose. From the selection of sustainable materials to the layout, every piece was curated to foster a welcoming, harmonious atmosphere conducive to conversation and reflection.
Our Style Inspiration: Harmony Inspired
Our design concept, Harmony Inspired, drew from the natural beauty of Australia’s contrasting landscapes, blending earth tones and coastal hues to evoke both calm and connection.
Colour Palette: We chose warm terracotta, soft taupe, and sage green, with accents of muted blue to evoke Australia’s diverse environment, from its sandy deserts to coastal waters. This palette was designed to bring a sense of groundedness and tranquility to the event space.
Sustainable Solutions: Reflecting both our values and the forum’s focus, we made a conscious effort to select furniture made from sustainable and recyclable materials where possible. With an emphasis on eco-conscious choices, we carefully curated furniture selections to ensure it not only looked beautiful but had minimal environmental impact.
Textures & Accents: Organic shapes and tactile textures were key in bringing the concept to life. From plush seating to soft upholstery, each area encouraged a balance of comfort and connection. We focused on subtle details like timber accents and curved edges to echo the natural flow of the venue’s environment.

Bringing the Vision to Life
Our team worked meticulously to transform the forum's spaces, creating areas that were both functional and inviting. Attendees were welcomed by lounge areas that fostered collaboration, breakout zones that encouraged quiet reflection, and a seamless blend of furniture that naturally integrated with the event's ethos.
In the "Industrial Room", we implemented a carefully planned floor layout that combined both cafe-style tables and clusters of bar tables and chairs. This mix allowed guests to either engage in casual social interaction or take a break for a refreshing drink or meal. The diversity in seating provided a flexible, dynamic environment that catered to both networking and relaxation, allowing attendees to transition smoothly between activities.
The seating was purposefully arranged to create inviting, intimate clusters that promoted conversation, while still leaving space for individuals to step back for moments of quiet reflection. Our strategic placement of furniture enhanced the natural flow of movement throughout the room, making it easy for guests to circulate and connect.
