When guests arrived at Sydney Town Hall for the 2026 AFL Season Launch, they stepped into a space where styling, furniture and custom-built elements worked together to create a memorable event experience.
Set within one of Sydney's most recognisable heritage venues, the event design needed to complement the grandeur and architectural character of the Town Hall while delivering a contemporary environment worthy of launching a new AFL season.
Working alongside Twenty3 Group, Valiant delivered a complete event solution encompassing furniture hire, styling and custom construction, transforming the historic venue into an immersive setting inspired by an "Autumn Awe" palette of rich burgundies, warm blush tones and layered textures.
Designing Beyond Furniture
While furniture played a significant role in shaping the guest experience, the project also showcased Valiant's ability to create bespoke event features that extend beyond traditional hire solutions.
To anchor the space, our team designed and constructed a large-scale architectural feature wall that served as both a media wall and a visual focal point throughout the event. Drawing inspiration from classic architectural detailing, the structure incorporated layered panelling, decorative mouldings and a dramatic arched opening, creating depth and visual interest while complementing the heritage surroundings of Sydney Town Hall.
Rather than feeling like a temporary event backdrop, the feature became an integrated part of the overall environment, helping to frame key moments throughout the evening and providing a striking setting for guest photography.
Creating Cohesion Through Custom Design
A successful event environment is about more than individual pieces. It's about how every element works together.
To create consistency across the venue, Valiant designed a custom bar that carried through the same architectural detailing and rich colour palette featured throughout the space. Positioned amongst the lounge, dining and cocktail settings, the bar became a natural gathering point while reinforcing the overall design language.
The custom-built elements were intentionally designed to sit alongside Valiant's furniture collection, creating a seamless connection between the styling concept and the physical environment.
